Huge Surprise for Betclic

Global Gambling Industry Updates, Betclic, Sheriff Gaming & IGTYesterday’s report surrounding the criminal fines against Betclic have been reported as a complete shock to the online gaming operator. Reports are entering into the media stream concerning the alleged illegal gambling activities the French operator is suspected of conducting.

Yesterday’s reports stated that the Public Prosecution Office (PPO) seized €600k after it was advised by financial institutions of the unauthorized online gambling transactions with Belgian punters.

Sheriff Gaming No Longer Fit

Sheriff Gaming, the Eindhoven based 3D slots developer is once again in the news in a not so favorable light. Many will recall the November 2013 arrest by Dutch authorities of the 3D software developer CEO Stijn Flapper, brothers Michel and Maurice Gregoire.

The three were arrested on suspicion of illegal gambling along with money laundering, forgery and involvement in a criminal organization. Over 100 bank accounts and 80 residential properties were seized across the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Spain. The software developer released a statement at the time stating business would proceed as usual and that,

“Flapper would hopefully learn the actual allegations against him and will at least be able to participate in the fact finding.” Sheriff is “convinced the suspicions do not relate to Bubble Group and remain confident about a good outcome; stating their business is the honest business of creating cutting edge 3D games whilst our activities have nothing to do at all with money laundering activities whatsoever.”

In a turn of unfortunate events it has been reported that Sheriff Gaming’s Category 2 online gaming license has been withdrawn by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), after the developer’s parent company declared bankruptcy in Dutch court.

The AGCC announced yesterday that it had withdrawn the Category 2 Associate Certificate held by Sheriff parent company Bubble Group BV. The notice also stated that the actions by the AGCC follows a regulatory hearing held on Monday 24th February, 2014 at which the Commissioners determined that Bubble Group BV was no longer fit and proper to hold such a certificate.

PowerBucks expands possibilities for both casinos and players, and as IGT continues to lead and transform gaming entertainment, we applaud the gaming industry for advancing the slot experience.”Joe Sigrist, IGT vice president of Game Development and Global Product Management
